Home at last… *opens bag of loot*

I am finally back home again. The last week of our trip was, to be honest, extremely boring. I was alone in the RV all day while the others were out shooting (at targets, not people). I was hoping for some inspiration and motivation to write, but only having one without the other doesn’t work. It is like eating cookies without having a glass of mlik on the side. It just does not work.

But enough about that.

Licence plates censored, because housewives don't want their husbands finding out they've been out shopping again.

When we were in Sweden, we went to Nordby shopping center (Since we were driving an RV, we had to park in the back and walk around the entire building to reach one of the entrances… not fun.). It is very big, and it is located just inside the swedish border. It contains about 110 shops at the moment, most of them clothing stores and diners. But there were a few shops that I had to visit. Rochmerch, gamestop, GMJ DVD & CD and Gottebiten (a candy store, if not THE candystore ^^)

I did not know what Rockmerch was. From a distance it just looked like an ordinary CD store, but when I got closer I could see that it was actually an original merchandice store for various rock bands. They had a lot of T-shirts (only black… how original!) and miniature guitars like this. I almost bought myself a Linkiln Park-sweatband, but I don’t think I would use it that much…

But on to the next shop.

Since I had not gotten paid yet from my summer job, I had to drag my mom along. I headed for gamestop, but she didn’t go in with me. She just stood outside looking as awkward as a typical parent can be outside stores that hold no interest to them. But anyway…

They had some sort of sale going on. 3 for 199 SEK (swedish currency, about 27 USD or 21 Euros). They had a lot of used games on the shelves. Mostly PS1 and Xbox. I made my way to the back of the shop, dodging between 13-year olds drooling over the newest 360-games and veteran gamers discussing wether Ubisoft’s DRM system is good or bad. The shop was comparable to a Zoo…

"Miss, please stop tossing peanuts at my customers or I will have to call security."

The shelves in front of me were packed with games for the PC. Spore, Sims 3 and Everquest II stacked together in an unarranged chaos. The desk along the bottom wall was filled with old and used, new and crisp. It was like a soup of genres fighting for the customers attention.

I scanned the shelves for games to sink my teeth into (metaphorically speaking). I was surprised by how small the selection was. There were mostly mainstream games and bestsellers. Not many choices for the non-stereotype gamers.

First I found Assassin’s Creed. There was only one copy left so I quickly snatched it out of the shelf from behind one of many copies of Spore. I wanted to play Assassin’s Creed before I played the sequel, but my local Game store was not able to order it. After that, I found Mount & Blade. I have been looking for it since March when I first downloaded the demo on steam. I was actually only looking for these two games so when I had them in my hand I was at quite a loss. I needed one more game to take advantage of the 3 for 199-deal, but I had no idea what to look for.

After a few minutes of desperately trawling the shelves I came across a small, orange box…

So here is what I ended up with:

The Orange Box, Mount & Blade and Assassin's Creed. Notice the poster above ^^

Then I moved on to the next shop. GMJ DVD & CD. I think the name is quite self explainatory.

They had many interesting looking movies there, but they weren’t as cheap as I had hoped so I only picked up stuff I had planned looking for. I was originally going to buy season 2 of Merlin, season 2 and 3 of Robin Hood and some Doctor Who (with the tenth doctor). They only had season 2 of Robin Hood, and it was part of a 2 for 499-deal (69 USD, 52 Euros) so I had to find something else. After a few moments I settled on season 4 of House. That season has aired in Norway, but I haven’t seen all the episodes. I also bought it because of the two episodes at the end of the season, ‘House’s Head’ and ‘Wilson’s Heart’.

The blitz covers Wilson's head. Could it be foreshadowing? :O

And then it was the candystore. I don’t have any pictures to show you since I was too busy drooling over all the candy. Imagine Willy Wonka’s factory, only less flashy and without the chocolate river (altough a chocolate river running through the store would be AWESOME!).

We also stopped by another candy store on the way back to Norway. Our goal there was to buy canned soda.

The parking lot...

Cue angel choir.

Phew, that was a long post… almost 900 words!

At least I added a lot of pictures. I did buy some other things too, but they will be included in later posts.

Comments are appreciated! : )

  1. Nice post, I enjoyed reading it

  2. Welcome home :D
You finaly found Assassin’s creed and Mount & blade then :D And now you will get too play half life too^^

    • I’m curious to see how they managed the dialogue in the game since the main character doesn’t speak at all. Does the sidekick do the talking? Does he use sign language? Does he carry a chalkboard around with him?

I don’t know if I’ll try Team Fortress… Isn’t that connected to Garry’s Mod or something?

      • A guy gives you a gun “Here take this gun” you hear an explosion “hurry run away before they get you!” runs away..
Pretty much like that xD Can’t remember exactly how the dialogs was presented but I can imagine something like that.
carrying a chalkboard around would be awesome :D

Don’t you have to buy Garry’s mod? thinks its also connected too half life and CSS

        • Maybe someone always start talking when he was going to say something. I think he would snap about halfway through the game. “Stop interrupting be, you %&#$”
